Squier
(spr. skweiĕr), Ephraim George, amerik. Reisender und Altertumsforscher, geb. zu Bethlehem im Staate Neuyork, untersuchte mit Davis die alten Denkmäler im Mississippithal, wurde 1849 Geschäftsträger der Vereinigten Staaten in Guatemala und Nicaragua, wo er mit Erfolg den Versuchen der Engländer, die Grenzen ihres Schutzgebietes Mosquitia auf Kosten Nicaraguas auszudehnen, entgegentrat. Von 1863 bis 1864 war S. Kommissar der Union in Peru und wurde 1871 Präsident des Anthropological Institute in Neuyork, wo er starb.
