Copland,
James, Mediziner, geb. 1792 zu Deerneß auf den Orkneys, studierte seit 1807 in Edinburg, praktizierte seit 1818 in London, übernahm 1822 die Redaktion des »London Medical Repository« und starb Sein Hauptwerk ist das »Dictionary of practical medicine« (Lond. 1833-58, 4 Bde.; neue Ausg. 1865; deutsch von Kalisch, Berl. 1834-59, 11 Bde.). Außerdem schrieb er: »Outlines of pathology and practical medicine« (Lond. 1822);
»Elements of physiology« (nach Richerand, das. 1824);
»On pestilential cholera« (das. 1832);
»On the diseases of warm climates« (mit Annesley, anonym);
»On palsy and apoplexy« (das. 1850);
»On consumption and bronchitis« (das. 1861).
