(spr. ättwud), George, Physiker, geb. 1745, war Professor an der Universität Cambridge und starb in London. [* 3] Er erfand 1784 die nach ihm benannte Fallmaschine [* 4] (s. d.) und schrieb «An analysis of a course of lectures on the principles of natural philosophy» (1784).
