sein Hauptwerk, mit biogr., kritischen und bibliogr. Notizen über 46 499 Schriftsteller, wozu ein Supplement von Kirk (2 Bde., Philadelphia 1891) erschien; «Alphabetical index to the New Testament» (1869),
«Poetical quotations from Chaucer to Tennyson» (1873),
«Prose quotations from Socrates to Macaulay» (1876),
«Great authors of all ages» (1880) u. a. Außer religiösen Traktaten schrieb er auch von positivem Standpunkte «The Union Bible companion» (1871).
