der Geologie am King's College in London , 1845 Lehrer der Geologie an der Militärschule für Indien in Addiscombe
und Professor der Geologie an dem College der Civilingenieure in Putney (London ). Seit 1848 war Ansted besonders mit der Anwendung
der Geologie auf das Ingenieur- und Bergwerkswesen und als konsultierender Bergwerksingenieur thätig. Er starb 13. Mai 1880. Von
seinen meist populär gehaltenen Werken sind hervorzuheben: «Geology, introductory, descriptive and practical»
(2 Bde., Lond. 1844),
